Anniversary!

Today we celebrate 8 years of marriage.

We had a little two night get-away and feel so refreshed to come back to kids and get ready for another bit of time apart!

My AWESOME aunt Lark hooked us up with 2 nights at her time share in Palm Springs. The place was great, it was a one bedroom, living room, fully stocked kitchen and dining room. Thanks Aunt Lark for our time away! Both my sisters watched our girls which made for free baby sitting. So all we paid for was gas and food! It was nice and now we're back!

On our drive back we asked each other questions like:

What's so cool about being married?
Dan- Being able experience a relationship so filled with love that is almost un-human like.
Shay- Having some one to love and be loved by unconditionally.

What year of marriage has been the most fun/exciting!?
Dan- This last one.
Shay- Agree

What anniversary do you remember the most?
Dan- Not a clue
Shay- 1st one we lived in Boston and we met up with our friends the Bulkleys in New Jersey, and I met Stanfields for the first time in Delaware. 2nd one I was huge pregnant with Blake and you (Dan) had a gig to play on a Boston Harbor cruise ship, you wore a purple-ish shirt and matching tie...something about the color purple. 3rd we went to just about the most awesome concert lin-up ever, Sleeping at Last, The Format, Yellowcard, and Something Corporate. 4th we were living in California and probably did dinner and a movie. 5th year we had 2 kids and I'm guessing we did the dinner and a movie thing. 6th year we were treated to a 2 night stay in San Diego, again my sister watched the girls. 7th year we went on a 2 night stay to Vegas and listened to one of those time share opportunities and got another 2 nights free, 4 meal vouchers and gambling credit. 8th year here we are.
Dan- Wow, you remembered all that?
Shay- I guess so

What's with us not getting each other gifts?
Dan- I don't know
Shay- I don't mind it.
Dan- I'd liek to get you something, but it's nice that we don't feel it important.
Shay- I'm just happy to have you around on our anniversary!
Dan- MEEEE TOOOOO.

I sure like being married! And I'm more in love with my husband now than when we got married 8 Years ago!

Short and Sweet!

Just picked up my husband this morning! I can't even believe he is home! It's so nice! We have missed him tons and the girls are so thrilled to have him home too. Reese even waits outside the bathroom for him! Cute!

So forgive me now if I don't post anytime soon or comment on your blogs for a short time!

Record Keeping

Ok this may be a bit a lame. But I wanted to document todays weather. I just woke up from a nap and I can't seem to warm up. It's June, and I'm chilly. I haven't had the need to turn on the A/C since that one really hot week in MAY. And now I'm wearing warm pajamas to bed, long jeans, sweatshirts, and shoes....actual closed toe shoes, and socks. Why? Because I'm cold, and it's raining outside. The kind you can hear when the windows are closed. It's 60 degrees outside. It's raining. I'm not sad about this weather, in fact I'm happy that the plants and animals get some more moisture before the hit of the summer heat. And I'm thrilled with the idea of saving money on my electric bill. I'm just sharing this anomily with others. I thought that family members in Utah would laugh at our unlikely weather pattern. My in-laws and parents in the Mid-West are probably enjoying brighter and drier weather!

Thank you clouds for the wetness, and thanks for the few extra days without a high energy bill!

My nails!

I love a clean house. Thinking about the smells of different cleansers, the vacuum lines on the ground, no crumbs on the counters or floors, blue toilet water, and mirrors free from toothpaste spots....I can't help by close my eyes a little and sigh. The mere thought of a house so clean and in order is so satisfying. But actually having a clean house, well, I don't know how my body is handling it right now. I spent the better part of today cleaning and scouring any surface I could. My bathrooms look as if they have never been used. My house is nearly spotless. I say nearly because I have some laundry to fold, vacuuming to do, my trash can looks dingy, and my cookies and milk dishes need washing. Good day here at my place!

So the title of this blog, My nails. Well, I believe they deserve a little appreciation for such hard work they did all day....without breaking a single one! So I need a good inexpensive place to go. Any suggestions? Any coupons out there?

Oh and the reason for the crazy cleaning.....my husband comes home on Saturday and I would love to not have to worry about cleaning my house while he's here. And I have to leave for a few days for Young Women's Girls Camp and the last thing I want him to worry about is cleaning a dirty house.

It's really clean here, and I'm even extending this cleaning frenzy to the garage. Maybe my "nesting" has come a bit early.

Oh and my kitchen garbage can is almost 8 years old. I think tomorrow I'll buy a new one, smaller, that will fit under my kitchen sink!
