Did you know....

the various kinds of bedding sets available for a tiny baby that doesn't even see colors? Did you ever think about how fun it would be to set up the crib, paint a wall or two and get ready for a baby to arrive?! And did you actually go out and buy a bedding set and use it for one child and maybe the second? And did you ever see something this cute!?

OR maybe something like this:

Cute right! Did you ever think that either of these would be priced at OVER $1000?
That's 3 zeros. One Thousand dollars. Ridiculous right?

So it got me thinking; why on earth would someone pay so much for an infant/baby/toddler to sleep in something that they 1) can't even enjoy the color scheme, b) care what they are sleeping in, and lastly likely destroy the 5000 thread count sheets with their bodily fluids.

Then my brain naturally thought, well why should I even bother looking at a bedroom set for this new little girl. The one I used for Blake was a gender neutral theme and I loved it. Sadly it got water damage and grew some black mold so that Reese missed out on any "cute" bedding. Anyhow, there is a cute bedding set that I saw. But again, why spend $180 on a bedding set.

Yes I know it's cute. But really I'm thinking it's ridiculous. So I've been thinking I'd like to make the bedding and learn something new while picking the colors that I would love to see in our baby's bed. Here's a swatch of the idea I have:

OR this

Very similar bet you get the colors I'm thinking about!

But then while I was looking for those swatches I found these!

OR!!!!

And with coupons and spending some time learning a new sewing skill, well that's the best price out there!

So give me your input on color. The light blue ones, the bright blue and reds, or the yellow-y floral one.

In regards to the popcorn I am game for whatever you choose to make. I pretty much like all the swatches except for the last 2.

Out of all four of the swatches.....I like the last one.

I like the lighter colors, the first two and the last one is growing on me. Good luck. I had the same bedding for all four, which my mom bought for me, so it was worth the money. Not a $1000 that is insane. Actually anything over 200.

I have yet to buy crib bedding and doubt I ever do...the cream fitted sheet we have I found to be too pricey! and I had sooo many baby blankets I just used those b/c like you said the bodily fluids call for many bed changes...but I think making your own is AMAZING! I love the last two but probably the last one the most...good luck!

i love the light blue two, but that might have something to do with the fact that my baby girl's bedding is light blue, red & pink :) {bumper & skirt purchased on ebay for a grand total of $40, amy coe bedding} then i just used the plain ole white sheets i got with jake.

good for you to learn to sew too!

I Like the bright blue/red. You should look at my blog...my MIL just made bedding for my baby. You are welcome to come over and check it out too. She didn't use a pattern, she just made it up and I LOVE it. We used really cute Moda fabric and it is way cuter than anything I could have found to buy.

Love the first two but then the last one really popped. Not really sure about such bright colors for that sweet little brunette :) but I'm sure whatever you make will look great. And what do you mean a 'new skill'? You sew all sorts of things and bedding is just straight lines!
